Over the past few years, there have been any number of signs that the US is experiencing a rise in right wing extremism. This can be seen in the rise of ultra-nationalist groups such as the Proud Boys, the Boogaloo movement, the attack on Capitol Hill, the plot to kidnap and try the Governor of Michigan, the election of reactionary, populist politicians like Marjorie Taylor Greene, the heightened effort to restrict voting in the US, especially among minorities, and the rapid escalation in the frequency of hate crimes, particularly those aimed against Asian Americans and Jewish Americans. What do you see as being the underlying social forces involved in the rise of right wing political extremism in the US today? Where do you see these various movements heading?
