Q1) Childhood participation in sports, cultural groups, and youth groups seems to be related to improved self-esteem for adolescents (McGee, Williams, Howden-chapman, Martin, & Kawachi, 2006). In representative study sample of n=100 adolescents with history of group participation is given standardized self-esteem questionnaire. For general population of adolescents, score on this questionnaire form normal distribution with mean of µ = 40 and a standard deviation of σ =12. Sample of group participation adolescents had average of M = 43.84. Does this sample give sufficient evidence to conclude that self-esteem scores for group-participation adolescents are significantly different from those of general population? Use two-tailed test with α = .01.
