Consider this situation: John and Maria have been married for three years. Both are 25 yrs old and are working hard to develop their careers. They live in an apartment and are trying to save a down payment for a house. They have one daughter, Zoe. Both work long hours; fortunately, Maria’s mother, Sally, lives in the same town and babysits. Zoe all day. To save on expenses, John and Maria have only one car. Maria drops John off at work then drives to her job. At the end of the day, she pick up John and they go home, where they take turns cooking dinner. John then takes Sally home. One day, John gets a letter from a lawyer. His uncle has died and left him a $10,000 inheritance. Everyone is happy, but each person wants to do something different w2iththe money. John wants to put all the money in their “buy a house” fund. Maria feels they’ve been working very hard for a long time, so she wants to spend some of the money on a relaxing vacation on a tropical island. Sally, who is retired, would like them to spend the money on a babysitter so that she does not have to spend her entire week babysitting. Write three brief paragraphs, one from John’s point of view One from Maria’s point of view and one from Sally’s point of view arguing for how the money should be spent.
