For this assignment, you will take on the role of a former army officer in World War I who served on the front lines in France in the trenches. You are writing a 500-word journal account of your experiences during the war.

Your diary should address:

the causes of the war,
the new innovations and inventions in the military,
the challenges you faced,
the inclusion of soldiers from diverse backgrounds and gender,
at least one significant military action (battle) that you personally experienced with pertinent details,
the outcomes and aftermath of the war,
the lessons learned from the war.

In addition, you must explain the differences in the experiences of your grandfather in the Civil War to yours in WWI by comparing his experiences with the technology and innovations in the military of his time to yours. Be sure to reacquaint yourself with Unit V material for information on the Civil War.

The journal should be written in the first person, in a journal/diary format.
