You missed key stakeholders like marketing and the call centers, then were surprised when their requirements caused you delays and overruns. You developed a plan with specific communication methods for each stakeholder. You used meetings to get input from your steering team and user groups, and simply kept others updated through reports or the project web site. Then you successfully kept your stakeholders engaged with good issues management. This maintained their support, avoided surprises, and built confidence in your overall project management.
