According to the definition of The European Commission in its Communication (COM (2011) 681) on 25 October 2011 defined Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as “the responsibility of enterprises for their impacts on society”. Companies carry out their responsibilities to society in terms of their relationships with stakeholders. In the present era, CSR is seen as a common standard practices for companies, especially for companies that have a great influence on the market. When implementing CSR activities, companies are engaging with community commitments and at the same time reinforcing the company's image in the eyes of consumers.

Within this individual assignment scope, we will work together on the CSR activities of The Body Shop. We will analyze the concept of CSR initiatives from the legal and business perspective. CSR theories will be included to analyze the nature, purpose and impact of the activities. In summary, the content of this individual assignment will provide a complete picture of The Body Shop's CSR activities in relation to ethics theories.

“The Company believes that its values are consistent with strong and sustained financial performance and that profits with principles must be achieved in order to sustain the long-term future of the Company.” (Annual Report 2003, Performance Review)
