Prior research leadership styles has found that there is a relationshsip leaders with transformational leadership styles and ethical campus climate. Ethical behavior is directly related to leadership in organizations. Research studies have found that employees that take their leaders' behaviors as a model in organizations. If leaders have ethical conduct, employees also have ethical conduct. Although there are great concerns for the a association between transformational leadership and ethical campus climate, the number of empirical studies for HBCs is limited.

The study will be conducted at nine HBCUs in the state of Texas. There are a total of 1,500 faculty member who work at these institutions. Of the 1,500 faculty members, 49% are female and 51% are male. The population has a normal distribution.

Two instruments will be used to collect data. The Leadership Style developed by Leithwood and Janzi (1991) will be sued for determining the leaders' transformational leadership style. The Ethical Climate Questionnaire developed by Victor and Cullen (1988) will be used to determine the school' ethical climate. The Leadership Style Inventory and the Ethical Cliamte Questionnaire provides an overall numerical score. The score has equal intervals and a true 0 point.

The Leadership Style Inventory consists of 40 items on a five point Likert scale. Of the 40 items, 29 items determine transformational leadership that measured include fostering group goals, models behavior, providing support, providing intellectual stimulation, and holding high performance expectations.

The Ethical Climate Questionnaire is 26 item instrument that uses a six point Likert scale. The questionnaire requests the respondents to indicate how accurately each of the item described their schools' ethical climate; law and code ethical climate; rules ethical climate; instrumental ethical climate; and independence ethical climate.
