A dynamometer is a device used to measure torque and speed and to vary the load on rotating devices. The dynamometer operates as follows to control the amount of torque: A hydraulic actuator attached to the axle presses at ire against a rotating flywheel. The greater the displacement of the actuator, the greater the force that is applied to the rotating flywheel.
A strain gage load cell senses the force. The displacement of the actuator is controlled by an electrically operated valve whose displacement regulates fluid flowing into the actuator (D'Souza, 1988).
Draw a functional block diagram of a closed-loop system that uses the described dynamometer to regulate the force against the tire during testing. Show all signals and systems.
Include amplifiers that power the valve, the valve, the actuator and load, and the tire.
The feedback current amplifier in Fig. utilizes two identical NMOS transistors sized so that at ID = 0.2 Ma they operate at VOV = 0.2 V. Both devices have Vt = 0.5 V and VA = 10 V. If Is has zero dc component, show that both Q1 and Q2 are operating..
We have a 20-hp, eight-pole, 60-Hz, three phase induction motor that runs at 850 rpm under full-load conditions. What are the values of the slip and the frequency of the rotor currents at full load? Also, estimate the speed if the load torque dro..

Design the inverter circuit in Fig. to provide VOH = 1.2 V, VOL = 50 mV, and so that the current drawn from the supply in the low-output state is 30 μA. The transistor has Vt = 0.4 V, μnCox = 500 μA/V2, and λ = 0. Specify the required values of VD..
A horizontal cylindrical drum is 2.00m in diameter and 4.00 m long. The drum is slowly filled with benzene (density = 0.879g/cm3). Derive a formula for W, the weight in Newton's of the benzene in the tank, as a function of h, the depth of the liqu..
