Question: Ages of husbands and wives are recorded for a randomly selected sample of n = 200 opposite-sex married couples in the United States. The data will be used to do a simple linear regression with y = husband's age and x = wife's age.

a. Explain the distinction between the regression line for the sample and the regression line for the population in this situation. Include descriptions of the sample and the population.

b. Write the population model for the simple linear regression that describes how the age of a husband is related to the age of a wife. Write any necessary assumptions about deviations from the line.
