For the preceding problem you should find that there are significant differences among the three treatments. The primary reason for the significance is that the mean for treatment I is substantially smaller than the means for the other two treatments. To create the following data, we started with the values from problem 7 and added 3 points to each score in treatment I.
Recall that adding a constant causes the mean to change but has no influence on the variability of the sample. In the resulting data the mean differences are much smaller than those in problem 7.

a. Before you begin any calculations, predict how the change in the data should influence the outcome of the analysis. That is, how will the F-ratio and the value of η2 for these data compare with the values obtained in problem 7?
b. Use an ANOVA with α .05 to determine whether there are any significant differences among the three treatment means. (Does your answer agree with your prediction in part a?)
c. Calculate η2 to measure the effect size for this study. (Does your answer agree with your prediction in part a?)
The table shows the retail market share of passenger cars from Ford Motor Company as a percent of the US market.
What I need are relevant questions for a survey questionnaire that will be valid for testing each of 3 hypotheses. Include the variables tested.
Data in table represent number of consumer complaints against major U.S. airlines. If one complaint from table is arbitrarily chosen, determine the probability that it was filed against United Airlines.
Under what circumstances should a nonparametric test be used? Explain. What are the strengths and weaknesses of nonparametric tests? Can the outcomes of nonparametric tests be generalized to populations?
If the scores are approximately normal with mean 544 and standard deviation 103, what minimum score would a student need in order to score in the top 10% of those taking the test?
Assume that the measurements came from a normal distribution. The variability of the manufacturing process is unknown means the same as the standard deviation is unknown.
Using a level of significance of .05, is there evidence that the dual degree students are receiving lower grades? Explain.
A company produces two products that are processed on two assembly lines. Assembly line 1 has 100 available hours, and assembly line 2 has 42 available hours.
This test result prompts a state administrator to declare that the mean score for the sate's eighth graders on the examination is more than 275. at a=.04, is there enough evidence to support the claim.
Compute the Expected Value (Mean), The Variance, and The Standard Deviation for this random variable. X 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
U.S Census data show that 14% of the consumer population is 18 to 24 years old. Given the consumer is 18 to 24 years old, what is the probability that the consumer use a plastic card?
