1.  For this essay, you will be expected to answer a multiple part question on the broad topic of reproductive justice.

c.) In what ways has collective action by women of color changed the face of reproductive rights organizing in the U.S. to a systemic focus on reproductive justice?  

d.) Discuss the politics of sterilization practices in terms of the intersections of systems of inequality and privilege with these procedures.

e.) Finally, what did the eugenics movement hope to achieve and how is this related to the history of sterilization abuse?

2. For this essay, you will be expected to answer a multiple part question on the topics of women's unpaid and paid labor.

a) First, discuss the major research findings associated with women and domestic work. Specifically, what proportion of household labor, on the average, do women perform? What are the consequences for women when they marry in terms of domestic work?

b). Next, drawing on the textbook, power point, and the reading, "A Brief History of Working Women" by SharleneHesse-Biber and Gregg Lee Carter, discuss the changes in U.S. women's labor force participation since before the industrial revolution for different kinds of women, emphasizing the ways racism and sexism interact with the economic system. 

c). Finally, in her essay, "Maid to Order: The Politics of Other Women's Work," what does Barbara Ehrenreich mean when she writes that housework was supposed to be the great equalizer of women? How and why has that not occurred?  What are the implications of this for considering how gender inequality intersects with other inequalities, specifically, race, class, and nation?
