Can anyone explain to me how to determine the strongest negative relationship between an input variable x and an output variable y? It would be the biggest number with the negative sign in front of it but a classmate told me that was wrong. On the same token can you also explain how to find the strongest positive relationship?

Also can you help me to understand these two problems
