Instructions: As principal investigator, provide expert opinion on factors that affect Infant Birth Weight by analyzing birth.sas7bdat using ANOVA.

Insights -- This is your communication to doctors and the general public about your findings and recommendations. One page.

Technical build -- Before your insights are released, the Chief Statistician needs to review your work. Provide succinct documentation of your model build process with sufficient clarity for another statistician to replicate and confirm your findings. Be thorough and brief. Justification for your choices need to be explained. You should include the metadata table here for completeness (just copy it in, no need to re-derive it).

There are 9 variables besides Weight, you are free to use any and/or all of them in any manner you wish to arrive at a credible model.

Expectations -

Acceptable: main effects model, competently executed, well presented. This is a "C". Make sure you can do this well before going further. This is a credible grade.

Going above: higher order interaction models as you can manage.Proceed methodically, slowly and carefully, do not go wild and crazy.

If there are technical flaws and/or bad decisions, it's a D (go fix it) or F (throw away, start over).

Competently executed means the model is legitimate and high performing, and there is rational thought based on evidence that guide your decisions along the way. Your discovery process is deliberate. Well-presented means you can explain clearly to someone else what you saw, what did you decide to do, and the outcome.

Include a final page of your lessons learned about ANOVA from this exercise.
