RESEARCH REPORT ASSIGNMENT -

BACKGROUND - You are working for a software development company in Brisbane which is considering establishing several teams which may be located in countries as diverse as China, Brazil, and Poland.

To prepare for the establishment of the GVTs, the company's senior executives want to know more about the possible problems caused by technology within GVTs and strategies that can be used to deal with these problems.

CONTENT

You have been asked to

  • carry out library research on problems likely to be caused by technology within GVTs and strategies that can be used to deal with these problems. You are required to base your report on recent, authoritative academic and industry information.

In this report, you are to

  • provide an appropriate definition of a GVT which identifies and explains the unique features of GVTs
  • explain why technology is important within a GVT.
  • based on the information in the recent academic literature, discuss the likely issues or problems associated with using technology in GVTs (900-1000 words)
  • identify effective solutions / strategies to use in dealing with these issues (900-1000 words)

You need to base your analysis on industry magazines and academic resources such as journal articles and conference proceedings. Your supervisor wants more than just a descriptive report; he/she wants you to include, from your readings and case studies of GVTs, analysis and evaluation of issues and strategies based on the research materials.
