The U.S. Military has always been on the cutting edge of technology. The use Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs or Drones) has increased exponentially since September 11th, 2001. In many cases those drones are controlled by soldiers thousands of miles away from the actual fighting. Additionally, the battlefield employment of small and medium sized robots has exploded. One of the major producers of these robots, Boston Dynamics, was recently purchased by Google (see video below).

Question: What are some of the pros and cons of technology taking the place of soldiers on the battlefield? For example, while the use of robots can help to minimize our soldiers' risks for injury/death, could it also desensitize us to the horrors of war?
