Question

As the hospital compliance officer have been asked to propose a fair hearing process that is designed to protect the hospital, its staff, and the hospital patients. Because the Board does not want a practitioner to be wrongly acted against either, they want a process that is insulated from improper motives and is fair.

The givens are that the initial peer review concerns will be identified by the appropriate clinical committees (i.e., Surgical Review Committee, Cardiology Committee, etc.) and will be finally acted upon by the Governing Board based upon a final recommendation of the Medical Executive Committee. Your job is to come up with a hearing process, appeal process that is appropriate and fair in between those steps.
