Project Success and Failure Factors

In this assignment you will write a short paper describing projects you have worked on that have been successful, and some that have failed. You will then discuss your own paper and those of your peers on the course Forum.

Procedure
1.Remember some projects that you have worked on, both successes and failures. The projects can be work related or personal.
2.Write a 3 to 5 page paper that answers the following questions:
?For the projects that failed: ?What were the top three factors that contributed to failure?
?How did those factors affect the project?
?How were those factors overcome?

?For the projects that succeeded: ?What were the top three factors that contributed to success?
?Were those factors real or only perception? Support your assessment with a brief discussion.

3.Post your paper to the course Forum, and compare your success and failure experiences with your peers and instructor.
4.In an online discussion, cover the following areas: ?What do the projects have in common in terms of characteristics, failures, and successes?
?Which of those common areas can you trace to specific PMBOK® Guide areas?
?What patterns can you identify?
?Which patterns may be appropriate or inappropriate for future projects?
