Professional improvement plan (PIP)

Create an employee Personal Improvement Plan based on the following scenario. Be sure to describe your approach and the steps you will take to hold the employee accountable.

"Joe is an employee that has been with your company for 11 years. He's the veteran of the work group and he has a real attitude. Whenever any new initiatives are shared, he closes off and mutters. "we've tried that before and it didn't work" He is quick to criticize management and also finds the opportunity to cut corners. His work has consistently been marginal and yet with all the turnover, prior managers have put up with Joe since he at least shows up for work most of the time. You have been his supervisor for six months and you feel it is time to address the challenges that Joe creates in the workplace. You have spoken with him several times (counsel and coaching) but it seems to be getting nowhere."

Based on the information given, write your plan and also share your approach to the problems you observe. Be sure to describe the approach clearly so that there is an explanation of the issues and how the PIP will establish a new expectation that requires immediate and respectful attention by Joe.
