In the past, you have noticed that alcohol and cigarettes tend to sell together, and you wish to find out more about this relationship. You gather data on 415 customers, where 97 customers bought alcohol and cigarettes, 64 customers bought alcohol but not cigarettes, and 142 customers bought neither alcohol nor cigarettes. Use this sample as an estimate for the calculating the following probabilities below:

  • What is the probability of a customer buying both alcohol and cigarettes?
  • What is the probability that a customer that buys alcohol purchases cigarettes?
  • What is the probability that a customer buys alcohol?
  • Are alcohol and cigarettes purchases independent? Yes (i.e. independent) [ ] No (i.e. dependent) [ ]
