Prepare Value Stream Mapping based analysis for the following Product description. Product description Feet for heat exchanger made with mild steel angle and flat bars by ABC Company after required process steps. Requirements Customer requires 3000 pieces per month Raw material is shipped in 12’ lengths of 5/8” mild steel angle It is supplied by MN Steel company weekly Flat Bars are also supplied by MN Steel weekly based on requirements informed by ABC Customers Customers are heat exchanger manufacturers. Work times ABC produces different parts for different companies. They have only two weeks (12 days), 8 hours days for this product per month. Two15 minutes breaks are allowed on each day Production Processes Production steps include: sawing angle iron to length, sawing flat bars to length, followed by welding the angle and flat bar parts, drilling, slotting, blasting, and painting. The components are then stored in stores and pulled as required for building the heat exchange unit. Setup time for saw operation is 10 minutes, Setup time for drilling and slotting is 11 minutes. Setup time for blast and paint is 8 minutes. MN steel Deliveries are made on Thursday. Production Planning Receives 90/60/30 day forecasts and enters orders. Production Planning Department issues ABC’s 2 week forecast to MN Steel via MRP. Secures angle iron through daily faxed order release to MN. Schedules are released weekly & daily. Develop Current State Value Stream Map, study it and plan to improve the overall process. Show the improved process in a future state value stream map.
