Assignment title - Business Planning and Corporate Expectations
Learning aim - Know about the business planning and corporate expectations of an engineering organisation.
Vocational Scenario or Context - You are working as a junior engineer in an engineering manufacturing firm. You have recently been moved from the research and development department and seconded to the quality department as part of your training programme. Your next task is to consider the importance of business planning and corporate expectations related to tendering, contracting, innovation, quality assurance and quality control.
Task 1 -
1. You need to prepare a business plan for the proposed manufacture of graphene or a graphene related product and use this to show how you are going to secure and manage staff, suppliers and resources, financial stability and the influence of marketing and building client relationships.
2. On completion of your business plan, you need to prepare a report that describes to the various departments in your company the role that their department plays in successful business planning for your organisation.
3. Describe how success in other areas of your firm (for example - tendering, contracting and innovation) has an impact on successful business planning.
To achieve the criteria you must show that you are able to:
- Describe what should be considered when carrying out business planning.
- Explain the importance of successful tendering, contracting and innovationn to business planning for an engineering organisation.
Task 2 -
1. Describe the corporate expectations (including customer, employer and ethical expectations) of your company as if you were preparing for a new recruit.
2. Explain how an effective quality management system would assist in business planning within your engineering organisation and when determining your corporate expectations.
To achieve the criteria you must show that you are able to:
- Describe the corporate expectations of an engineering organisation with a customer focus.
- Explain how the concepts of quality assurance and quality control affect the application of business planning considerations and corporate expectations.
