1. Construct Development, Scale Creation, and Process Analysis
a. Part I: Construct Development and Scale Creation
1) Choose a construct you would like to measure.2) Create an operational definition of your construct using at least three peer reviewed journal articles as sources as references.3) Select and list five items used to sample the domain.4) Select method of scaling appropriate for the domain. Justify why you selected the scaling method you did.5) Format the items into an instrument with which you would query respondents. Justify whether this is an interview or self-report instrument.
b. Part II: Analysis and Justification
Prepare an analysis of how you developed your instrument. Be sure to describe how you chose your items, how you would norm this instrument (How many people would you give it to? What characteristics would your respondents have? To whom would the instrument be generalized?) andwhich reliability measures you would use. Also, describe how you would establish validity as well as the methods you used for item selection and how item selection will be evaluated.
Find the sample space for the number of outcomes (you don't need to list the possible outcomes, just how many possible outcomes there are).
A quality control inspector selects a part to be tested. The part is then declared acceptable, repairable, or scrapped. Then another part is tested. List the possible outcomes of this experiment regarding two parts.
The auto parts department of an automotive dealership sends out an average of 8 special orders daily. The number of special orders is assumed to follow a Poisson distribution.
The bank credit card department of Carolina Bank knows from experience that 5 percent of the card holders have had some high school, 15 percent have completed high school, 25 percent have had some college
A behavioral research situation that could use a Pearson coefficient research study and a chi square research study. Present the rationale for each selection. Be very specific in your presentation.
A professor is targeting a score of 80 on an exam. His forty-nine students averaged 78 on an exam with s = 7. Are the scores significantly less than 80 at a significance level of 0.05? Show your work and state the conclusion.
A University Web server has five main components each with the same reliability. All five components must work for the server to function as intended.
Clearly identify the independent and dependent variables you would study, including the number of levels of the independent variable.
A business owner decides to use a binomial distribution to solve one of his problems.
To estimate the size of the bear population on the Keweenaw Peninsula, conservationists captured, tagged, and released 50 bears. One year later a random sample of 100 bears included only 2 tagged bears.
Use critical values and the previously given sample information to test the hypotheses you set up in part α by setting α equal to .10, .05, .01, and .001. How much evidence is there that the manufacturer's claim is false?
Determine which crew should be sent to each city to minimize the total distance traveled. How many miles will be traveled if these assignments are made?
