Preceding exercises dealt with ownership of cattle and the collection of firewood by households in a particular Nepal village. Statistics students are asked if the same probability distributions should apply to other Nepal villages; who gives the best answer? Adam: As long as they're all in the same country, the villages should be about the same, so the probability distributions should be the same, too. Brittany: I don't know anything about Nepal, but I can picture that some villages could be a lot different from others, depending on how much they need cattle to farm and what kind of traditions they have for who collects firewood. The probability distributions don't necessarily apply to other Nepal villages. Carlos: They didn't say if the village was sampled at random. If it was sampled at random, then it should be the same as other villages in terms of firewood collection and cattle, right? Dominique: If it's sampled at random, then the probability distributions for other villages should be close, but they wouldn't be exactly the same.
