Although 62 years of age, Ms. Infante has continued to carry a full-time teaching load at the university and had no plans of retirement in the foreseeable future. While hiking last week, Ms. Infante developed chest pain and shortness of breath and went to the hospital emergency department for evaluation (ECG tracing, CT scan, and 2D echo). She was diagnosed to have Rheumatic heart disease and Aortic Valvular Stenosis. Her attending Physician prescribed Beta Blockers, Diuretics, and nitrates to control angina also she was informed that she might undergo Valvular replacement to manage her condition.
