Question

In 2012, many people were panicked (yes, this was a real thing!), believing that the world was going to come to an end on December 21st of that year. This belief, in turn, was based on the belief that the Mayan had prophesied this event, and we could know this because their calendar was to come to an end on this day-that is, the Maya would not have been able to mark time after that date. Peruse the internet (using such search terms as Maya prophecy 2012, or Maya end of the world, etc.) and pretend you are a Mayan priest brought magically back from the dead. How would the priest have responded to this belief? Was it an accurate representation of Mayan thought or not? Please express through your words the perspective of the Mayan priest.
