The correlation coefficient between x and u (residuals) = 0. When I repeat the regression but do a regression through the origin (i.e. no intercept), the correlation coefficient between x and u becomes -0.24117, and I am not sure why. I have to use the Pearson correlation coefficient formula to explain this phenomenon.
