There are three different organizational control matters: output, behavioral, and clan. Out of these three, my previous employer, PetSmart, was known to use output control. The output control is when a company is striving for results. It is considered a measurable result (Strategic Management, 2014). The company is focusing on performance of the employees, who are creating the results of the company. PetSmart, since it is retail, is using output control on their sales and customer service. When I worked there, it was mainly about making plan (a certain sales mark) or creating the best customer service. Output control measures how well the company is doing and where they are making mistakes or creating success. When I was a manager for PetSmart, I was always checking on how the store was doing as a whole and how each department was doing separately. Output control came in handy because calculating the different results showed myself and other managers what we all needed to work on in order to bring our results back up. The managers were always in charge of controlling the output control for each store, which results as a whole for the company. This control did work best for this organization.
