One of the delusions of personal perception is that most individuals believe others perceive as they do. This becomes particularly problematic in situations of negotiation and conflict resolution. Imagine you are a manager whose organization is experiencing a bit of a "labor shortage". Your are attempting to persuade what few subordinates you have left to increase productivity in spite of the overall low company morale. You have attempted to explain how their increased productivity will translate into higher profits for the organization, yet you have thus far been unsuccessful. What should you do to accomplish your task of motivating your workforce under these conditions? Be specific in what steps you would take and why.
