The majority of the data is basically distributed if there are enough subjects. For instance, if you collected test scores of only a few honor students, the data will most likely not be normally distributed because you would have a sample that did not represent the entire population. But the identical test scores (for honor students) collected from all schools in a state will result in a normal distribution.
Identify an example of a population that you would expect to be normally distributed. Explain why, according to you, it would be normally distributed. Then, describe a subset of the population you identified and explain why it would not be normally distributed and what would the distribution look like.
Calculate the sample statistic and standard error you will use to create the test statistic.
What is the null and alternative hypothesis? What is your final conclusion?
Assume that sigma = 60, choose an alpha level, and perform a hypothesis test to determine whether this is good evidence to conclude that the mean score for all young men is less than 275.
Security B has an expected return of 12 percent, a standard deviation of returns of 10 percent, a correlation with the market of 0.7 and a beta coefficient of 1.0.
Using sample, determine a 98% confidence interval for mean weight of whole daily output.
When we say we have confidence level of 95% what do you believe our "margin of error" is?
An internal study by the Technology Services department at Lahey Electronics revealed company employees receive an average of 3.3 emails per hour. Assume the arrival of these emails is approximated by the Poisson distribution.
Two independent samples of sizes 16 and 26 were taken. In a test of equality of population means of the two samples, how many degrees of freedom are associated with the critical t-value?
Suppose adults have basically distributed IQ scores with a mean of 100 and an SD of 15. Find P65, the 65th percentile. Use the Z table.
Solve the equations using linear algebra
Determine the standard score for the value x=452 realative to its sample, where the sample mean is 500 and the standard deviation is 32.
The owner of Britten's Egg Farm wants to estimate the mean number of eggs laid per chicken. A sample of 20 chickens shows they laid an average of 22 eggs per month with a standard deviation of 2.03 eggs per month.
