Case study
Imagine You are the head of a department in a mid-size company. Your CEO decided to conduct a value chain analysis to identify which processes contribute most value, and which should be made more efficient. As a result of the value chain analysis, it was recommended that your department should improve certain process steps by making them automated and therefore implementing an electronic information system. For this case study, you can choose which department you want to head and which process steps you want to make automated. (Examples of departments or business functions: production, logistics, customer service, marketing, sales, accounting, HR, finance, IT, quality assurance, research, etc.). In your paper, you are asked to address the following aspects (feel free to address additional aspects as you deem appropriate):
Describe in 1-2 paragraphs what your new information system would do, and how it would make the process more efficient; Briefly explain how you plan to ensure that the main users’ needs (requirements) would be fulfilled by the new information system; Provide 3-5 bullet points enumerating what your backup and recovery plan for your new information system may contain; Would you use a cloud solution?
