Go to a computer lab on campus, a public library computer lab near your home, one at work or even just use your own computer setup at home for this lab using paper and pencil or Visio or some other drawing software like Network Notepad (https://www.networknotepad.com/Download.html (Links to an external site.)

For a computer, denote the Internet Protocol (IP) address and the subnet mask address on at least one. To locate the IP and subnet mask addressed (on Microsoft-based computers):

1. Right-click on the Start button

2. Select Run, and then in the field type cmd and press Enter on the keyboard

3. Type ipconfig in the window that has opened. Look for a line stating the IP Address and Subnet Mask. You may need to scroll up in the box to see the results.

Submit your drawing, you location listed in the drawing and the IP address and subnet mask you discovered.
