DOE (design of experiments) as a means for moving quality improvement to the beginning of a process (i.e., to the product/process design phase). While these methods are quite sophisticated (statistically speaking), they have been made more accessible to organizations through the availability of software as well as Taguchi's contributions (e.g., orthogonal arrays). Provide an HEALTHCARE  example of how a designed experiment might be used. Be specific in defining the factors to be considered as well as the response variable. Also include how the response variable will be measured. Discuss the challenges that may be encountered in actually carrying out the experiment.
