There are few topics in corrections that create a more polarizing discussion and fewer still have more misconceptions associated with it than privatization. Still, privatization is a widely used tool in response to a fiscal crisis. Despite media documentation of private prison breakdowns, the trend for privatization is clearly a growing trend and the company stocks gain in value. There must be reasons why professional administrators and legislators use privatization of facilities and services. Please list and discuss three reasons that private prisons and the privatization of services are good options for correctional management. Part of your discussion must include a demonstration that you understand how private prisons and the use of private beds and services are funded. You need to understand how they are funded to have any discussion regarding why they can be considered cost-effective or efficient.
