Assume you have a monatomic gas with initial volume and pressure V1 and p1, respectively. If you apply work on the gas to compress it isothermally until its volume is 57% of its initial volume and its pressure rises to a value p2. To what percentage of its initial value will its volume compress if you apply the same amount of the work on the gas to compress it adiabatically instead until its final pressure is p2?
