Progressivism is the political idea to make changes in government and society towards a better living conditions. During America's Progressive Era in the early 1900s, the most relevant changes achieved by reformers were in business expansion, labor rights, social welfare, and political rights for women. 

A variety of inventions and business expansion positioned America as one of the richest nations on earth. With the oil discovered in Texas, about five hundred oil companies opened, and the U.S. became the largest oil producer in the world. Another significant change was Henry Ford's innovation; the mass production to manufacture automobiles. The construction of the aqueduct also was a significant advancement in 1913. All of the progress attracted immigrants from many places of the world. During this period, America was blooming, however, the massive immigration, the exploitation of labor, and the racial tension needed urgent social and political reform. Progressive reformers advocated for U.S. workers, immigrants, racial justice, and women rights to minimize the negative effects of industrialization.
