Patients believe that doctors are superior compared to nurses. Notably, most people only notice the work of doctors and fail to appreciate the efforts of nurses. For instance, patients are convinced that physicians are capable of treating their illnesses through the prescription of medicines. However, they fail to understand that nurses play a critical role in ensuring that they take the drugs in the required quantity and at the right time (Bolan & Ogbolu, 2020). Therefore, many patients end up giving all the credit to the doctors without appreciating the good work of nurses. This makes nurses feel inferior and unvalued during healthcare delivery. 

Doctors are given higher prestige because they have the privilege to practice their careers without having to consult anybody else. Nurses, unlike physicians, work under pressure and extreme supervision. For instance, they work under the supervision of doctors and other healthcare leaders. Nurses are not free to exercise autonomy without the approval of doctors (Rodríguez-Pérez et al., 2022). For instance, they must seek a doctor's advice before taking action. Moreover, nurses are likely to be blamed if the condition of patients worsens because of improper medicine administration. However, whenever things are right, people fail to applaud them but recognize doctors for the positive outcomes.
