A mastery experience is when an individual builds their efficacy (or competence) beliefs by successfully completing a task. I am an avid hiker so I included an image of a mountaineer summiting an impressive summit here, but there are certainly a wide variety of mastery experiences that come to mind for each of us. When we think about how to build our own or other's self-efficacy at work, one of the tools that we have at our disposal is to help facilitate mastery experiences. I started at WM as a coach and I didn't not know much about how to coach and after going through the training at WM I was like what have I gotten myself into. However, once I learned the art of coaching and how the managers that I was working with were benefiting from the coaching it made me motivated to grow as a coach. How did learning hot to be a business coach motivated me?
