You will be writing a short paper on the Civil War for your final essay. Below you will see four sets of questions. Your paper will want to answer all four sets of questions. The paper can be rather informal. There's no need for an introduction or conclusion. Just MAKE a paragraph for each set of questions and you'll be good, i.e. four paragraphs (since there's four sets of questions). For each set of questions, you will want to write 200 (or more) words. In total, then your paper should be 800 (or more) words. You will want to cite from the textbook (you may also find our class discussion for week 4 helpful. Please review my comments and feedback in the discussion and feel free to include it as evidence in addition to the textbook). Like the reading responses, you should paraphrase rather than include word-for-word quotations. You'll want to include actual citation. This can be informal, i.e. just include a page number in parentheses at the conclusion of your sentences. My advice is to provide sufficient evidence from the course material to support the claims you are making throughout. You'll note that I'm not asking for an introduction or a concluding paragraph, so there will be no need to implement an overarching thesis statement. You will be making claims specific to each question set, backed up by ample support from the course material. Your paper will be due at the end of the final week of class, Thursday, August 3rd, 2023. You will submit it here. The submission must be a file upload, meaning you'll be writing your paper on either Microsoft Word or Google Docs, etc. prior to turning it in here.
