Implementing and maintaining an effective employee training program can be challenging at times, but it is proven to be vital to the long-term success of any business. It can also provide many benefits for the company and its employees, but it has to be effectively implemented. It is recommended to have a clear understanding of policies, job functions, goals and company philosophy, which will lead to increased motivation, morale and productivity for employees, and higher profits for the company (McKay, 2016). Below you will find three challenges and three opportunities for the implementation and maintenance of an effective employee training program.

Challenges

Learning Effectiveness: This means that the company must ensure that the training is closely aligned with the improvement of job performance and that there will be a return on training investment, or they will lack learning effectiveness (LionBridge, 2014).

Maturing Organization systems: This means that when organizations that have matured, they develop more rigid systems and processes and ways of thinking. Typically, they propose short term solutions to long term problems (WelingkarDLP, 2016).

Measuring Training Results: This means that when training is done, it is hard to measure the effectiveness of the training in an actual work environment due to the skills learned by employees are considered to be intangible assets.

Opportunities

Addressing Weaknesses: This means that when a training program is implemented, it allows employees to strengthen the skills they need to improve.

Improving Employee Performance: This means that when an employee will be able to perform their tasks as the appropriate level and it will boost an employee’s confidence in themselves due to the better understanding received from training.

Boosting Employee Satisfaction: This means that employees will have an advantage over other employees in different companies who have not received the same thorough training, which in turn makes the employees feel more valued (Frost, 2016).
