Consider a string consisting of two densities, p1 in region 1 where x<0 and p2 in region 2 where x>0. A continuous harmonic wave is incident from the left. What are the ratios of the square of the amplitude magnitudes for the reflected and transmitted waves to the incident wave? Hint: This problem is very similar to the problem of the particle traveling through the step-like barrier in quantum mechanics.
