One of the local company in Toowoomba used steel tanks to store liquid nitrogen, dry ice, and ice. If you assumed one of the tanks is a spherical stainless steel tank used to store ice at 0°C. This tank is kept in the backyard and subjected to wind
speed of 10m/s and 26°C ambient temperature. Disregard any heat transfer by radiation and assume the tank wall thermal resistance is negligible. If the tank
diameter is 2.5m (I.D), and the tank wall to be at 0°C, calculate:
a) The heat transfer rate to the iced liquid inside the tank.
b) The amount of ice at 0°C that melts during a one day time. The heat of fusion of water at atmospheric pressure is hif = 333.7 kJ/kg.
c) If the ambient temperature vary during the day hours according the 0 =< time =< 24, T = 15 - 11*sin(time*2*pi/24), plot the heat transfer rate with time.
