Two machines are used in a factory. The lifetimes of the machines are independent random variables. The lifetime of the first machine is exponential with rate λ, and the lifetime of the second machine is exponential with rate µ. The first machine starts working at time t = 0, and the second machine starts working at a later time t = T. What is the probability that the first machine fails before the second one (The answer depends on λ, µ and T)?
