The purpose of this assignment is to apply leadership and/or management principles to address a relevant issue. For this assignment you will role play as a community leader, specifically as a director of your local town's Public Health Department on the Board of Directors. It is up to you to decide what is the best choice for your community. Would you approve or oppose having sanitary landfill, a hazardous waste surface impoundment, a hazardous waste deep-injection well, or a solid waste incinerator in your community? Explain your position and why for two out of the four examples on how you would guide decision making. Provide evidence to support your position. How would you negotiate and mediate any issues in relation to the costs versus the benefits to your community members. If you oppose having such facilities in your community, explain how do you think the solid and hazardous wastes generated in your community should be managed? If you approve, provide examples of other cities that have successful systems in place.
