Legal Issues

There are various regulations or laws pertaining to worker compensation and rights. Some of these laws and regulations are:

• Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and prevailing wage laws

• Equal Pay Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act

• Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax code

• Legally mandated (local), living wage ordinance(s)

• Worker Economic Opportunity Act (WEOA), and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)

Select any two regulations or laws and write a report on them. In your report,

Provide a brief overview of the provisions of the legislation of your choice.

Choose an organization. Discuss the impact of the legislation on one or more components of the chosen organization’s approach to compensation or benefits. Clearly demonstrate a connection to the components of the compensation model.

Describe how one or more of the provisions of the given legislation might challenge the alignment of the compensation system.
