Recognition is often viewed as a key component to motivating employees. Some researchers recommend providing some form of recognition once per week, for each employee! Others contend that too much recognition may become less influential and seem to be a bit ritualistic. As a manager, how can you provide accurate and motivating recognition to employees, without it becoming watered down and ineffective? How can you ensure that none of the employees are left out of the recognition process? Discuss an example from your own practical working experience where a recognition program was either effective or ineffective. Why was it effective or ineffective? What would you have done differently if the recognition system was ineffective?
