Most people have had at least passing contact with the American legal system. The law permeates almost every aspect of your lives in some manner.

Locate an article from your local jurisdiction addressing some aspect of the law. See how many different applications of law you can find (traffic infractions, marriages/divorces, and real estate transactions are just a few). After summarizing the article, answer the following questions. What type of law was involved (statutes, case law, or both)? What branch of government was involved (executive, legislative, or judicial)? What was the outcome of the matter?
