A clothing brand operates internationally mainly through wholesale (franchises and distribution partners) and then decides to acquire these franchise and distribution partners. Is this move considered vertical or horizontal integration? It sounds like forward vertical integration to me but could it be horizontal because it acquired companies that operate at the same level (clothing retail)?
