Consider the McDonald's case below:

McDonalds' stated goal is to "Be the world's best quick service restaurant experience." For our purposes, this is a Mission Statement. The next level of goal is a Strategic Goal (can have more than one obviously, but all must support the mission!): "Get the meal out the window 90 seconds from when they have finished placing their drive-through order." Tactical Goal (must help achieve the strategic goal): Explore new technology to predict customer orders, develop timing standards for assembling the five most popular meals, invest in automatic drink-dispensers, and review staffing needs during the lunch hour. Operational Goal(must support the tactical goal): Hire two additional workers for the 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. time period. Conduct timed training trials for the five most popular orders.
