The Discussion Board (DB) is part of the core of online learning. Classroom discussion in an online environment requires the active participation of students and the instructor to create robust interaction and dialogue. Every student is expected to create an original response to the open-ended DB question as well as engage in dialogue by responding to posts created by others throughout the week. At the end of each unit, DB participation will be assessed based on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion.

At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students. The first contribution must be posted before midnight (Central Time) on Wednesday of each week. Two additional responses are required after Wednesday of each week. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often, as that is the primary way the university tracks class attendance and participation.

The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each week.

Library Research Assignment

Let us explore definitions of marketing in the text and reference books in the library. Next, we will apply marketing to our degree concentrations. Do not use any other sources for this assignment.

Click here for the research requirements and guide for this assignment.

Main Post- Due by Sunday

Research the definition of marketing in your text and Library references as per the research guide above.

•Begin your post by stating the three sources (including the years of publication) and how they helped develop your definition of Marketing. Do not copy or quote the definitions you researched, create your definition of marketing. Make sure that your definition is unique and features your style of thinking and writing.
•Select a product or service from the following list and research a company that manufactures this type of product or provides the service. Based on your definition, analyze whether the company should be considered good marketers or not.
Click here for a list of recommended products.

The list is divided into categories that reflect the concentrations in the AABA program. It allows you to pick a product in your discipline (if you wish). If you would like to choose a product or service not listed above, you must receive instructor approval by Thursday of Week 1. If you did not get approval prior to posting, you may not receive credit.

Your main post on the discussion must be submitted by Sunday. The post should be 2-3 paragraphs in length (or at least 250 words)

Interactive Responses: Due by Sunday

Respond to at least two other student postings by addressing the following:

•Analyze how their marketing examples correlate to your definition of marketing. Do the examples show an understanding of the role marketing plays in business today? Why or why not.
•Each reply should be one paragraph in length (or at least 75 words) and must be substantive in nature. Do not simply say yes or no, specify why and be detailed in your explanation. You may use research in your responses but it is not required.
Your replies to at least two other student posts must be submitted by Sunday.

In your own words, please post a response to the Discussion Board and comment on other postings. You will be graded on the quality and interactivity of your postings. If you complete all of your posts at one time, your participation will not be considered interactive. Use of unoriginal text and excessive quotes indicates a lack of comprehension and shows that you may not have mastered the concepts.

Include APA formatted references at the end of your discussion.
