Group:Company Sustainability Report/Pres
Group Project Steps:
1. Group Formation: Follow the instructions posted to self-enroll into Groups on eConestoga under the Groups tab.
2. Company Selection: As a group, review the Global Companies List on eConestoga under the Assignments tab. Choose a company and post your selection to the Company case Study Discussion board on eConestoga. Selections will be confirmed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
3. Company SustainabilityReport: A Global Perspective
The purpose of the group project is to encourage you to better understand how companies shape sustainable actions across the entire organization to pursue and secure the future course of sustainability. Your group will look at relevant news stories, press releases, company reports to support your discussions using a system thinking approach that provides a balanced view of the positive and negative impacts. Successful completion of the project will also further develop your research and critical thinking skills.
Your team will provide a detailed analysis of the company's sustainability operations and challenges, while applying key course themes.The goal will be to show how the company's business strategy is aligned (or not aligned) with their business operations.This will cover key operational areas of Leadership & Strategy; Energy Management Systems (Water; Energy; Waste); Engagement & Recognition and Marketing.
Report Format Requirements:
• APA reporting format is required.Assignments with NO ATTEMPT to include APA formatted in-text citations and reference list, and/or an unacceptable level of similarity to external sources will receive a grade of zero (0) and, depending on the severity of the plagiarism, an academic warning or offence. Will not accept ‘url links' only as references.
• Report should be between 3000 - 3500, 1.5 spaced (estimate 12 - 14 pages excluding cover page; table of contents; appendices, and bibliography).
• Your final report should make use of at least fifteen (15) reputable sources of informationincluding academic journals, reports, and recently published news.

Executive Summary
|
Provide a one-page executive summary that provides the highlights of the company you selected along with the key findings from each of the report sections.
For this report you can focus on the corporate sustainability reports & the corporate HQ. If the reader read nothing more, this should give them a clear idea of the research’s findings and conclusions in summary form.

|
Introduce the global organization and their sustainability journey, when did they start on the journey, what is their business case for pursuing sustainability and key achievements to date, and key plans for the future.

Sustainability: Leadership & Strategy
(Week 3, 4)
|
Goal: Identify & examine corporate leadership/governance &strategy.
Describe and explain the corporate leadership approach to sustainability in the company and actions the leadership has taken to drive sustainability in the company (you should refer to relevant news articles; company press releases and reports). Is there evidence of top-down support for sustainability? Board of director members? CEO? CSO?
Describe and explain what types of strategy and policies the organization has adopted to drive sustainability in the organization. IE: How does the company do sustainability?

Sustainability: Environmental Management Systems; Operations & Reporting
(Week 5, 6, 7, 9)
|
Goal: Identify & examine corporate systems in place to support sustainability efforts linked to operational items such as Waste; Water & Energy.
Describe and explain systems the organization has adopted or implemented (or lack of systems) as part of a more sustainable approach to business (i.e. the business case for sustainability).
Describe and explain what types of programs and policies the organization had to adopt that align with corporate EnvironmentalManagement System (EMS).
Describe and explain what is captured (or not captured) under the EMSReporting in terms of Waste, Water, Energy – what is the measure, what is the reporting timeline (monthly, annually etc.)
What type of reporting standards does the company follow (global standards; their own standards – how does this support assurance and data validation (refer to the GRI website as a potential source of info).

Sustainability: Employee Engagement & Recognition (Week 10)
|
Goal: Identify & examine how the organization engages employees & what type of recognition has the company received.
Describe and explain factors that have motivated the organization’s employees to adopt a more sustainable approach to business in their daily work life (i.e. the business case for sustainability) – be sure to include at least two factors or programs and why they are important.
Describe and explain what types of recognition the organization has received and how that supports employee engagement.

Sustainability: Marketing (Week 12)
|
Goal: Examine the corporate marketing approach to sustainability.
Look at the different ways the company is doing sustainability marketing and provide examples (include advertising pieces as support in the appendices).
Discuss and examine the alignment of the marketing with corporate strategy (section 1.0); and consumers (what type of marketing; greenwashing etc.).

Summary & Conclusions(Week 13)
|
Provide final thoughts, directions for further opportunities in key areas discussed and a summary of your findings.

Bibliography, References, Appendices
|
Provide an APA bibliography, appendices.Be sure to place in-text citations wherever necessary throughout your report.
Report should make use of at least fifteen(15) reputable sources of information including academic journals, reports and recently published news. To reduce bias, do not rely only on the organizations’ publications!

4. Presentation: 10 minutes, 10 slides MAX:
The Presentation provides an opportunity for your team to present the findings and analysis from your Report. Your presentation needs to cover the following sections:
1. Title/Intro Slide
2. Summary & Review of findings:
a. Overview of company and their sustainability efforts
b. Leadership & Strategy
c. Energy Management Systems
d. Operations/ Reporting
e. Marketing
f. Employee Engagement/Recognition
3. Final conclusions and summary of report findings
4. Reference List slide
Presentations should make effective use of creative materials, such as a Power-point presentation. PPTs should contain a max of 10 slides (not including Title slide, and Reference lists). Submit your PPTx file to the eConestoga dropbox the night before your presentation.
